Last Saturday was cold and blustery but I got dim sum for breakfast so it really wasn’t too bad.

A bunch of girlfriends and I went to Great Taste Bakery in Chinatown. As I may or may not have mentioned, I’m from San Francisco, home to [among other things] infamously good dim sum. I’ve seriously been missing it since shipping out to Boston… so I was excited to go. The place was tiny, packed, hectic – classic. Great sign. I ordered my usual go too’s: shu mai, shrimp & chive dumplings, pork buns, egg yolk buns, and Chinese broccoli/bok choy/seasonal veggies. I wish the menu had been a bit more extensive, there are usually a few other things I love to get that weren’t on the menu.

The dumps were good. Definitely. However… I just can’t say they were great. It also didn’t help that we didn’t have any sauces on our table [chili, soy, oyster etc] and the place was SO hectic that we could barely get the waitress to order food and get the check let alone anything in between. So that was kind of a bummer. I would go back, no doubt, but I’m more interested in trying other dim sum places in Boston instead. I have a deep love for dim sum and since I whet my appetite, I’m determined to find a great place. Next up I think is Winsor. And maybe Hei La Moon. Any other suggestions? Feedback is always welcome.
