A few days ago, I was back in the North End for a loaded Italian meal. I always struggle to pick a restaurant, as I’ve mentioned before in my review for Panza. Some are unnecessarily pricey, some won’t take a res, and some are just so well known it’s a thing you need to prepare for [The Daily Catch, Giacomo’s … both of which have other, less crowded locations btw!]. Anyway, we decided on Trattoria Il Panino.
Such a cute spot, and off of Hanover which provides for a little more peace and quiet during your meal. Also, it was beautifully warm out and we ate in the open air patio. Basically al fresco. Basically being in Italy.. Maybe not.
I ordered the puttanesca, as you can see above. The rest of the group ordered the pasta vongole and tortellini panna e prosciutto. The tortellini was so. rich. So creamy, cheesy, and dense. The dish itself wasn’t that big, but my friend still wasn’t able to finish it. I liked mine, but I have to admit, nothing special. I like a chunkier puttanesca with a bit more to it. The sauce was very flavorful though. But I did love the added touch of serving the dishes in pans! Fun.
