The Tap Trailhouse has been on my radar for a while, and I’ve actually made plans to come here a few times but for some reason they always fell through. I was finally able to try this place before Boston Calling last weekend. Prime location! Right across from the entrance to the festival, and a great spot to start the night off.

We decided to order vittles and apps instead of full meals. We got the pretzel sticks [bc carbs], the dock square mini tacos, and the titletown nachos. Both the tacos and the nachos had a twist to the norm. As you can see above, the nachos were topped with fresh greens, pickled onions, avocado crema, and blue crab. I usually love anything with crab in it, like crab scrambled eggs, and these nachos were no exception. I also love anything pickled, so really this dish was the full package for me.

The tacos were equally as inventive: a base of spinach with fried oysters on top, with some bacon and pickled onions in there for good measure. Delicious. There was also a deviled egg dish topped with a fried oyster that I was desperate to try, but didn’t get the chance to. Still regrettin that one.

 

The only complaint I have is that this place is billed heavily as a bar as well as a place for grub, but I tried to order two separate drinks off the cocktail menu, and they were unable to make either one due to missing ingredients. I ended up with a vodka soda. So, 0 for 2 in that regard.
